Calendula and pansy. Ah, doesn’t that roll off the tongue? They’re easy on the eyes, too, as they’re a delight to behold especially amid a cold snap. Combined with their ability to brighten up your day, they are also useful as a natural pest repellent. Pansies grow fast, getting to a height of around 10cm while the highly fragrant yet short-lived Calendula shoots up to 80cm. Together, they tolerate partial shade, require good soil and can get away with light weekly watering.
